Subscriptions
The Book Sales Index offers subscribers two options:
- Individual Subscription License allows the individual who subscribed to the Book Sales Index complete access for one (1) year to the Book Sales Index, including quarterly and monthly updates.
- Total cost for the annual subscription: $695.50. [$650.00 plus 7% N.J. State Sales Tax]; or
- Site License Subscription allows a corporation, library, library consortium, or institution that subscribed to the Book Sales Index the right to have more than one (1) individual at that corporation, library, library consortium, or institution complete access for one (1) year to the Book Sales Index, including quarterly and monthly updates.
- Total cost for the annual subscription: $1,337.50. [$1,250.00 plus 7% N. J. State Sales Tax].
The Book Sales Index offers you the following methods of registering for our service:
- Via Check – You may sign up for our service by filling our an order form and sending a check. Upon reciept of the order form and check we will notify you by email of your username and password to access the subscription content of our site.

The personal and the corporate subscriptions include access to all data on the Book Sales Index web site
- Historical and current economic data tables (+46 pages including monthly book store sales 1992-2009; CPI; consumer credit; etc.).
- The economic dataset will be updated monthly to reflect changes in book store sales and the U.S. economy.
- Detailed 2008 estimates and 2009-2013 projections for net book revenues and net units for all of the major categories:
- adult; juvenile; mass market; religion; professional & scholarly; K-12; higher education; university presses; book clubs and book fairs; mail order; subscription reference; and standardized tests;
- in all of the key channels of distribution:
- book stores; specialty retailers; online sales; libraries and institutions; K-12 adoption; and higher education adoptions;
- This dataset will be updated annually (April 2010).
- Detailed book category summary statistics (net revenues and percent changes; net units and percent changes; for all book categories listed above).
- The summary will be updated quarterly (July 2009; October 2009; and January 2010)
- A 15 page glossary of book industry terms.
- A detailed 19 page outline of our methodology.
- 11 pages on reading trends in the U.S.
- +113 pages of PW’s bestsellers with unit sales information in 8 book categories (1994-2007; 2008 will be added).
- We monitor constantly the U.S. book industry and the U.S. economy. Since the Book Sales Index is a digital only database, if there is a significant event that impacts the book industry and/or the economy, we can respond quickly to any event.
If needed, we will provide a summary update digitally to subscribers reflecting the impact of an event on book revenues and units.
